TV is very powerful media, arguably the internet is stronger these days but it's debateable.
But BY FAR the most widely consumed media is actually the radio. Radio has like 10x the audience of TV, generally.
Guys listen to the radio while they work. They listen to the radio while they drive. Radio is so plentiful and so easy it has a massive extensive listenership.
So if you can get your shit being played on the radio, and get recognized by the masses, that's when you can start doing nationwide tours and stuff.
