>>57207797>They dont need the shared infrastructure. They dont need to do 3D streams.Agreed to some extent as some guy who's watched them since early 2020 and who's convinced Holostars was its best when they didn't have 3D models. That was the time Cover mostly left their content up to them.
Ever since the 3D debuts, Cover has used a FOMO tactic with Holostars, by showering people with content that would normally be reserved to more popular groups: IRL advertisements like the infamous car that drew around Shibuya, collabs with JP celebrities, weekly emissions, frequent 3D streams on the main channel, etc. The problem is that it completely disregarded the popularity of Holostars actually had. You don't get to tell people 'these vtubers is the next big thing!' when you can see their streams have struggled to go beyond 500 viewers for years now. Especially not when they behave like leeches to holos and keep calling them onee-sama just to let viewers know they're aware of it.
And given that less and less studio time has been given to Holostars and their emissions have been getting cancelled, it seems management finally understands it as well, just two years late. While they've made some mistakes with Hololive, Cover has generally shown a good understanding of the group and it's baffling they don't show any of that awareness with Holostars and keep trying to push it as something it's not instead.
Holostars also used to be more casual and have less fanservice. Astel in the OP is funny, because he's probably the stars who's had the most problems with the changes in the group. He went from casually talking about his past experiences to confessing on membership management told him to knock that off and pretend that he was a virgin to look more appealing. The amount of fanservice Holostars do on their streams now just makes me uncomfortable and I can't imagine why people, even women, would want to watch that.
With that said, I wouldn't argue Holostars don't need 3D or access to the studio, as one of their strengths is being good stage performers, they simply had too much given to them on a silver platter.
