Dumb explanation aside, Nijisanji is the only thing that provides them any financial stability along with allowing them to do as much vacations/travels as they want. Plus there's probably large gaps in their resume that may look awkward to potential non-vtubing employers outside of the explanation of freelance work.
If they were finally fed up with the branch's bullshit, where do they go from here? They're friends with Kiara or Mumei but that's not really a guarantee that they'll make it into EN4, and who knows if Anycolor will enforce any arbitrary "Non competitive clauses" that Cover will honor. It's a scary situation to be in and not an enviable one whatsoever.
