There was never any mod announcement, or any rule made. They just started purging the threads relentlessly (again, except for /uoh/) until we guessed that it was a permanent thing.
I can't answer "Why?" because I can't read janny minds.
Now /ag/ is back, and there is /freak/, and /become/ is no longer deleted.
So why are we allowed again?

My guess is the janny whose pet project was deleting us and the other threads has moved on.
