>>105114682I think there might be a sort of pumpkin that is especially adapted to the cold /morig/ mountains, it doesn't grow in the depths of the Ilum valley, but it can be grown in most place where you can find some dirt, as long as it gets plenty of sun. They're called gremkin, are bright orange and slightly smaller than standard pumpkins, but their flesh is also sweeter, though the skin is tougher. They are covered in hard blunt spikes that serve a dual purpose of protection against being eaten too soon, and also being a point for morning dew to condensate, allowing them to draw more moisture from the dry alpine air.
They would definitely be wonderful in a fish pottage, I think you'd also have icegrass flour dumplings in them, to make a sort of mountainous chowder. The dollops of goat cheese are added on top of the soup upon serving, to provide more contrast of flavor.
