>>38051720The teddy-bear cholla specifically is found in arid climates, but I think you could very plausibly have a spec bio'd cactus species that is similar but more suited to your wetter climate. For example, the Parodia rubibuenekeri is found growing in highlands in a lot of tropical south america. Just make one of those guys grow larger, develop longer spines due to more aggressive herbivores maybe.
