>>106889108>pegasiI didn't consider the idea that at least some pegasi would be set loose when their main use of sending letters temporarily became obsolete, but that definitely makes sense!
Truth be told, I see pegasi as the type to be equines better suited to life in hilly yet not mountainous landscapes rather than open flat-ish fields. My mind pictures them unfurling their wings when galloping up hills to get some lift and make the journey upward less stressful (I wanted to write about wing-assisted incline running but got too focused on the history), while using said wings to leap from the top of said hill to get out of a predator's reach while either gliding downward or outright flying away. If I had to assign a natural habitat somewhere, I imagine it'd be one of the topographically yellow or orange areas that's still a grassland by biome. Cross-referencing the two suggests the areas circled as viable natural pegasus habitats on the "HoloContinent". I had the height map and the biome map inadvertently at different levels of zoom and I may have mistaken which color is indicative of the grassland biome, so there is likely room for error. Still, I think it's a decent estimate.
The image I had in my mind for messenger pegasi was that they would gallop to pick up speed in Hooman-made clearings or towns before taking off in the (at least initially) forested territory that would become /who/, flying above the treeline and away from predation while en route to their destination. While I did just make the case for open, hilly grasslands, I can't deny the appeal of pegasi adapting to life near a forest's edge by being better adapted than traditional horses at browsing tree leaves when grazing. I don't believe they would be able to fly in forests due to their unstated yet undoubtedly wide wingspan, but I can see loose pegasi sticking to the paved roads and other cleared areas Hoomans made in the times of the Owl Republic and getting by.
Your musings about fictional animals' habitats being spread by humans/humanoids (and my reminiscing about the heart spiders' accidental introduction to /who/) has got me curious about other non-IRL animals in Viti that did/might end up becoming invasive species. You think there are any such risks from or to /morig/ or other nations?
>things to writeI actually have the "Pink One discourse prior to acceptance of her" lore piece written up along with a Letter and a half, I just got sidetracked by specbio and my internal insistence on a back-and-forth of "letter > lore > letter". I never got around to the "Pink Cult" idea though, but a certain couple of written things may negate the need to write about that at all. I do want to get as much as I can written down though, and I am open to suggestions on aspects of the Pink One or developments of the unnamed city to write about.
