Having an oshi is essentially the same as being an L'Cie from Final Fantasy XIII.
It happens nearly randomly, you're chosen by a somewhat higher power and given something to Focus on, that being your oshi and wanting to make her smile or improve yourself because of how they make you smile. You now have to go and do that, either by being a good fan and making OC and shit that's positive, or using her as motivation to improve your life. If you do that, you'll fulfill your "Focus" and be allowed to have a happy life.
If you DON'T do that, and ignore your "Focus" in pursuit of just basking in your oshi's presence, you WILL go insane eventually and become a fucked up Cei'th/Schizophrenic who became corrupted/schizophrenic by refusing to follow their Focus.
