>>43685975Well first I thought about cheesecakes and layered cakes with jam centers, and then I thought about the usually large amount of mediocre hard frosting that cupcakes have and the limited space for toppings like fruits and such. Ultimately all of these things are possible to do with a cupcake as well, but would require some effort. There's probably more differences but that's what came to mind. In the end a cake is easier to bake and has more possibility for variety without as much need for uniformity as a batch of cupcakes does so its hard to choose.
Also, I loved making mug cakes in highschool when I first got into baking. Chocolate lava cakes are kinda similar if you want to try making something a bit fancier that people will be impressed with
