Maybe you needed her to be there.
A Darkness to your unending Light.
Without the Light, it would be eternally grim.
But without Darkness, you would drown in the eternal weakness as your standards get set higher and higher, and things you would previously have considered not worthy of notice escalate to be "grave sins," not because they are worse actions, but because you have been exposed to so little pain that you find even the smallest of incidents to be world-ending.
It is good for there to be a First Knife in this gen, maybe. Not to say that you'll like her, or that she'll even be good. But so that there is someone you can Witness to give yourself a better appreciation for the people who stand in the Light.
