I developed a semi American accent too. My parents would have their friends over and during their conversations I would pipe up and say something that perfectly fit the situation and topic, which would surprise them and they'd compliment my vocabulary, attentiveness and such, and then my mum would be like "..that.. that's a line from The Lion King, he watches it on repeat all day"
