The live eucalyptus trees, an invasive species that explode, are the major cause of the rapidly spreading wildfires. Those are not resistant to fire and they are abundant in California.
The fire resistant trees are trees like old growth redwoods which are, as described, old growth. They take a long time to get to that point. These fuckers can tank fire like it's nothing, but PG&E would rather clear 2000 year old trees and kill hundreds of people than stop clearing them. They own both parties in California so nothing will change anytime soon.
