Food in Minecraft just makes every base the same. They're all wheat and potato farms, so every base is just a medieval castle. The hunger update ruined much of the original flavor of different builds by making people focus on getting the base functional first and foremost. Beds and all essential facilities have this problem to some extent, but farms and animal pens are the worst of all.
