I remember when I just came to Japan like 1.5 years ago and couldn't speak JP for shit. Then I got a fucking tooth infection and found myself at the dentist's trying to caveman my way through but since it clearly wasn't working too well the assistant whipped out some kinda voice translation app and it was the stinkiest dogshit app ever. Had to bring out my phone and google translate ended up doing the job just fine.
