Total minutes = M
First pipe = M/45
Second pipe = M/40
M/45 + M/40 = 1
Least common denominator is 360
360M/45 + 360M/40= 360
8M + 9M = 360
17M = 360
M = 360/17 = 21.18
M = 21.2
