Instead of just carving a path that lets her bypass the gates, is there an A.b path she can explore first that once done, allow her access to B? Your characters being forced to, or finding opportunities to grow is one of the biggest strengths of a multi-part story. In your case having Sora either negotiate to tread down a different path that would take her to point B, or showcasing some non conventional requirements that might allow her access, would go a long way to building her character. She is an impoverished girl who's main goal is to survive, make that into a fire in her belly that makes her have the will secure food in her belly by any means necessary. She can still be naive, but be earnest. There is always more than one way to reach the next page, keep that in mind.
