Something I've been trying to do more is take a step back from the focus on the MC and turn the spotlight on the featured character.
I never had to do it in my non-fic related works, because my main character was always the featured character.
It's interesting. I'm finding myself rewriting scenes to make her the one controlling the flow, and that sometimes involves getting out of an analytical narrating perspective and into the headspace of how Selen must see things.
Fanfiction is very unique.
