I think it's the worst kind of mental gymnastics, called love. She really explained it well herself, honestly. Had a choice to make between Tammy and the HPO, but couldn't bring herself to face the situation, so she decided to selfishly run away and let things cool down, hoping that she'd be able to find answers within herself.
That's more my interpretation here, but I think that she also kind of blamed herself for their unhappiness, since she kept talking about how the HPO acted as if she was forced to be here when around her on Day 7. With what she wrote in the letter to the Queen, she wants those two to find happiness together, but also deep down wants the HPO to keep her as her number one in her heart.
Basically, to scared to face her feelings and talk to her consort, so she decided to leave it all behind.
