I'm already opposed to your change to 8 bits for all parameters and intent to include jump-if-conditionals, since both are purely for convenience and provide no functional benefit. However, I think that a syscall opcode and some form of text labels would be fine. Syscalls are a necessary part of any program beyond simple toy scripts, and text labels (or some way of greatly increasing the label count) are needed for any reasonably sized program. Additionally, some sort of return opcode is needed, or another method by which to replicate the effect.
