Assassins creed is a perfect example of this; from a stealth based game with an interesting story and fun innovations on 1/2.
to a soulless reenactment of the first games that tries reproducing them without understanding the soul behind the game's success on 3 to the London one.
Until eventually it becomes a shameless cashgrab that tries to make as much profit as it can whilst doing minimal work(the last two games)
it happened to far cry
it happened to AoT
it happened to niji
it's happening to block game
it's happening to hololive
it WILL happen to your corpo soon, so enjoy it while it lasts
