Making use of everything the enemy has is indeed efficient, albeit hampered by the lack of standardization. Imagine an entire brigade with all varying equipment
It'll be a logistical nightmare, even more so in actual enemy territory. The troops themselves would be trained according to the amount of weapons available, leading to some troops being trained less and vice versa.
About the farms... I talked about them with long-term goals in my mind, one simply does not conduct guerrilla and espionage in a short amount of time, and capturing and converting an entire farm to feed about 300 men? Obviously people would take notice.
But yes, I do agree about an elaborate underground system in order to better transit troops, since the army is indeed small, hit and run and guerrilla tactics are the only things the army could consistently do.
