Thumbnails alone take priority if you ask me. Something close-cropped that stands out clearly has worked very well for me, even if the video itself was spontaneous and had zero effort on presentation, pic related. I rely on direct and close networking with my viewers/communities, my specialty is engaging individuals not cateringto the masses or editing/tech. It's made me and mine much happier to be honest. I really encourage you to be yourself and find others like you and who like your content. It doesn't seem to me that you're streaming for money and loads of views, if that is the case I really recommend quality over quantity emphasis on your viewers, less the actual editing.
