Also for the people who picked up the boat game Pippa made it seem like equipment is hard to do but the ammo type against enemies is literally like any other game with elemental affinities (fire weak against water etc). They call it ammo and armor type instead. Just remember that the bigger the boat the heavier the armor is. BB heavy, CA CV medium, CL DD light. Your boat's level also plays into how much damage you do and take against enemies so try to be a bit higher than what you are fighting against. +2% damage done and -2% taken from every level you are above the enemy capped at 50%. You don't really have to worry about ammo type til the end of the game though where every bit of damage counts because stuff gets pretty hard to clear without the right equipment way later.
