You also can't really disconnect holidays from religion, the word "holiday" literally means "holy day." The most prominent religion in Europe was Christianity from the 3rd century AD onwards, so it's holidays are decidedly "European." British common law literally calls Christmas and Good Friday "holidays since 'time immemorial,'" for example.
Otherwise, again national days like July 14 in France, or war related days like VE Day (May 8) for the Allies or Victory Day (May 9) for the former Soviet Union states.
