>>94223910>there aren't many people who speak Welsh fluently to a conversational degree because England has a lot of its dirty little paws in our politics and the way the country is run>there ahs been a lot of systematic removal of the Welsh language that has gone back hundreds and hundred of years >when my grandparents were in school there was something called the Welsh Not that was a big plank of wood that was tied to a string and wrapped around a child's neck if they were ever heard speaking Welsh in public>and if they were seen wearing that piece of wood it was encouraged by other people in the school and the community to throw rocks at them and heckle them>and the only way the child could remove this piece of would is to snitch on someone else who was caught speaking Welsh >it obviously encouraged the death of the Welsh languge>in the modern day there was a lot of propaganda that was very effective in making the Welsh language uncool, old fashioned and lame, that was specially effective with teens and young kids>people would also not hire Welsh speakers>there was a lot of purposeful >despite this being a thing, for years and years there are big movements to encourage people to learn the Welsh language again, as more Welsh people get in position to have control over our own politics in the UK>there are now job openings that will prioritize fluency in Welsh, programs to help adult learners >there talks to rename towns back to their old Welsh names after the English enforced English names, some people complain Welsh names are hard to pronounce but we don't care, if you can pronounce Arnold Schwarzenegger you can also pronounce Welsh names >it is a piece of history that i think a lot of people in the UK should be more aware of>surely the English would go around the world and do the same thing all over the world...>ANYWAY!!! POKEMON!!!and this is why it is morally right to hate on anglos
