I don't blame her for misunderstanding the penalty system, that's actually on the tax advisor to explain. I don't blame her misunderstanding the due date on the actual payment.
I do blame her for getting her shit (proverbially) kicked in the Austrian IRS, and needing a reminder of the date in the first place.
One thing Kiara said actually sounds wrong, which is that this whole thing was apparently happening over email? Tax lady needed to call her realistically, which I'd put in 50:50 blame on. This is too important to get wrong, so checking Kiara understood what the fuck is going is on tax lady. But Kiara needed acknowledge she didn't understand, which is a normal thing because tax law is confusing on a good day.
