The fact so many even on /vt/ are obsessed with numbers over quality suggests corporate vtubing will forever be plagued by this curse. The idea of supporting your favorites purely due to their content and cheering for their growth like with old idol culture seems like a firmly 2view mentality. Niji got extremely lucky with their first 3 waves, but it seems obvious in hindsight that it was an accident.
