Even Nene, who ditched the whole Chinese lore her character originally had, now has a new outfit clearly resembling that part of the region. You don't just invest in new merch, new outfits, time that could be spent streaming on Youtube being spent in another platform, without some sort of payoff or a ROI.
All that is to say: HoloCN is coming back soon, and Hololive is trying to normalize that again despite what happened in 2020, and some people in HoloJP are not exactly keen on the direction they're going (plus it means even more work to do on top).
