I did it because I figured that between the Essie and Eira (and Lisa) posts there was enough interest that this silly joke split idea could actually work, and it was better to do it while people in this thread were still entertained by the sheep posting instead of waiting until any potential annoyance over it started taking root, because then it would've seemed like the split was made in bad faith and that the sheep posters were being forced out.
I've never had to bake /wool/ a single time since then as they became self-sufficient pretty much immediately, and as far as I can tell they're still going strong over a year later, so I think it's safe to say the experiment was a resounding success. Happy ending for all involved.
