They might not think about it but that's how most casual viewers of anything, including vtubers, genuinely feel, that's probably how you feel about some other content creators, too, and frankly, the only 'sociopathic' thing is being unaware of how it would be taken to the point that you express those sentiments in polite company.
Think about it. I have dozens of content creators on my subscription list. I look forward to seeing a kiwami japan video appear on my feed. But would I be sad if he died? Not really. I don't feel any connection to him, and in fact, that's part of the beauty of his videos, the way he makes them so that there's minimum human connection. If I were to be perfectly honest, I might even commit the sin of feeling sorry for myself and the world that we probably won't get any more knife videos in that style. But I wouldn't really feel anything for him personally, and I think that's perfectly normal. People just don't like to think about it because it might make them feel bad about themselves.
