For example, there's a swordsman in one of the trailers whose sheathe is a gun and he's able to slice a mini mecha clean in half and it's the coolest thing
Early on you get the idea that he's a violent revolutionary, and that he'd cross paths with the heroes at some point for his cause
And when he actually does? They turn him into a psychotic stalker and play up that angle and make him look more and more pathetic as the show went on
