>>32737773Recent events like this reminds me about how the KR pngtubing scene fizzled out and why I stopped watching them to begin with. Situation was pretty similar to here, streamers with avatars and people with strong parasocial connection to them. And the streamers wanted to get rid of their unicorns so they engaged in faux-relationship and shipping behavior with each other. It did work, but the negative side effects were much more severe than expected. Shipping drama was really bad, because at that point it affects the streamer themselves not just the audience. Plus, it allowed for the creation of shitty cliques where talentless fucks could get views without the effort. I'm glad vtubing took over and that scene is dying in comparison. A lot of former small time pngtubers also recently converted to vtubing and it's not hard to see why considering how badly corrupted the pngtuber scene was.
Also as a side note, Kronii was ranting about shipping and people had little idea what she was referring to, it was probably the KR pngtubing scene. Well, at least that's what it seemed to me, unless I'm attributing more intelligence to her than she actually has.
