>>40743825The main appeal is the community, whether inside or outside of the game - offline or online. Just having other people around or knowing other people that go through the same shit makes it more bearable.
Another appeal is that you don't really have to think that hard about what you're doing at all. You'll get to your goal when you get there, just shut your brain off and focus on just playing the game. The appeal only lasts for so long though, if you see through the veil then it immediately falls apart.
