Solipsism is a school of philosophy that posits that the only thing that is "real" is within your own mind and what it perceives (how it perceives it), and anything outside of it can never be known (and might not even exist).
It breaks down into multiple sub-schools, each using this basic premise (the only thing that can be known is "you") as its core to varying degree.
-Metaphysical solipsists believe that the only things that actually exist are those they perceive, and that everything is rooted in their own consciousness, meaning that there is only one *real* person.
-Epistemological solipsists believe a simpler form where the only thing that can be *truly* known is yourself, so nothing outside of it can be truly understood. Epistemological solipsists therefore think that scientific study is a waste of time.
-Methodological solipsists believe that even what you perceive (the *you*) is also not real, but also part of the general perceived reality, where the only *real* things are thoughts themselves, meaning that the universe is instead a collection of consciousnesses all throwing ideas at each other.
Solipsism is inherently reductivist and nonsensical. It's a waste of time, like most things you'd learn in a philosophy class.
