>>51350060Ah, good questions. Kalma is actually just a contraction of the model's name Kalamari, which comes from the mech having many limbs. But I also learned that "Kalma" is a word to describe Death in finnish, which is very thematic and completely coincidental somehow.
A gimbal is pretty simple, it's basically a device to rotate something in multiple directions so it points a certain way. IRL, they're often used for camera (

The Ebilocus style mecha (Daemon) are basically extremely genetically modified, bioengineered, cybernetically enhanced, crabs. So, I make the assumption that animals have a soul, and as such so do the Daemons. A completely robotic mecha with a sentient AI may have something like a soul... I think that could go either way depending on how they're put together.
