I've been watching sci fi for a long time, and I still get blown away by Villeneuve and Nolan, or by good authors, or by good games, etc.
I feel like my preferences have actually sharpened my ability to filter out boring stuff and keep looking for better stuff. Which is great, because why waste time on boring stuff.
