Okay I think I understand why Flare does so poorly with numbers, she absolutely hates her dark elf design and keeps playing against it, so the people who are attracted by her design get turned off by her attitude towards, limiting her reach to the small subset of people who came in for her design but don't care that much about it that her constant attempts to play down her design doesn't turn them off.
