I'm not a musician but I get it. Having an artist resonate with you on a level that really influences you. Helps shape the person you are. Be it your favorite music getting you through a rough time and you always being thankful for that, lyrics that resonate with you, having a style you want to emulate. It may not be the "best" from some objective standpoint but it's music and creators you will defend and gush over, even when you know a lot of others won't understand why you like them so much. Which is fine. So long as they respect that and don't try to bring you down for liking them.
