I have a few friends I really care about and haven't needed to branch out too much aside from work/networking purposes. Our common interests don't even align that much anymore, but we still talk a lot.
I certainly wouldn't CHOOSE to spend my valuable time with acquaintances I don't care much about if I can help it that's for sure.
