Is dying:
- How Mococo doubled down from "before my time is up" to "before I end my existence" is a bit much to be just mis-speak
- They didn't clearly deny that she isn't dying, she just said she didn't mean it, which is a bit more indirect than what I'd like
- They hammered down "I just want to see fireflies, no deeper meaning" suspiciously lot.
Is not dying:
- Maybe she intended to say something like "before my existence ends" = "before I die", which would be more normal thing to say, especially considering that they are probably in their 30s.
- First impression bias, we built up the dying scenario in our minds for days, so we are now less likely to change our minds no matter how they explain it. Maybe it was just an especially bad mis-speak with nothing behind it.
- Failing to crystal clearly debunk the dying scenario from our minds doesn't make it any more true (failing to debunk existence of unicorns doesn't mean unicorns are real). Maybe they wouldn't expect us to be so stubborn so they half-assed the part.
