>>65138342Metal music is about letting everything out with little to no filter and a lot of the writers and performers are articulating a genuinely deep degree of harsh life experiences. Some of that comes out as fantastical declarations of personal power and potency as a form of catharsis. I can't get all into that particular style or listen to it constantly though. Katatonia exclusively uses clean vocals for a nice change of pace and really good metal bands will not only try to be more evocative as opposed to just doomer in their lyrics but also switch between distorted growling vocals and clear singing.
