- It's essentially impossible to get all the skills and abilities, or even most of them, in a single playthrough.
- The games are basically designed around the highest difficulty. You keep all your weapons, skills and abilities on subsequent playthroughs, and unlock new difficulties by beating the highest available one. You're meant to work your way up to the highest one, learning the game and acquiring all the tools in the process.
DMCV is particularly bad about it, you don't even get one of Nero's basic mechanics until the Final Boss (but it's available from the start on all subsequent playthroughs).
