because this was already one of the longest single chapters I've written, but my thought is that Moriji cities in these moist low lands would have a lot of channels, ponds, fountains and canals all over the place, which would reduce temperature a bit through evaporative cooling (it's a real thing!

My thought is that Tosklo's been on Moriji for a few years, so as you say, the Deadbeats' affectionate manners might have rubbed off on her somewhat... You know, the "off to college" effect kek.
