In all seriousness, you can easily keep your own vessel pretty clear of those kinds of waters with what you got already. It sounds like a relationship you could showcase the key low key moments over time. Even if life with an oni is wrought with danger, you wouldn't have to go into a lot of detail with it if you didn't want to. It would be perfectly serviceable to start a scene with the aftermath of possibly having to join with Ayame in a fight and getting some blood on your hands, and she could kinda nurse you through it while commending you on your bravery. All cute stuff.
