Saying that "not carrying a firearm is the same as not having one" refers to a very specific use case and it's really a political statement.
Since some folks here clearly can't into pattern recognition and think everything outside of California is Weimar Germany, I will state my actual political stance: I'm a Mises/Goldwater Libertarian. Don't touch my property and let me live undisturbed, and we will all have a good time. Violating my NPA will result in me treading on you with a recreational Abrams tank.
