koyotes mate for life! theyre a very symbiotic species!
young female koyotes pair with young male koyotes who they carry on their heads and selves! this fulfills two important purposes!
1- height! male koyotes are much much shorter than females! females help them reach high things!
2 - protection! male koyotes are fierce fighters! but their thick and resistent coats aren't well suited for the scolding hot savannah temperatures! as a result females evolved to shed most of their fur while males evolved to become smaller! this is why you often see males riding around in the females clothing or even heads!
