>>34898673I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure artists have a very good argument to claim that using the their art without permission for training data violates copywrite, and that it doesn't count as fair use...or at least that's really their only avenue. Sure its transformative, but it's also hightly derivative, and as far as I'm aware, there's no built in method to ensure that a given ai WON'T just straight copy a portion of the art.
It's gonna be a weird legal battle that will have much wider implications for AI usage that will affect peoples lives in the coming years in ways nobody's thinking about....like how everyone getting smartphones with wireless broadband internet wasn't generally considered a potential problem societally just 20 years ago.
