Okay, I'll head to bed now. Submissions close whenever I wake up tomorrow, probably around 12pm (afternoon) pdt.
As of right now, there are 43 usseewa submissions and 28 mikoboat submissions. I'll need to clean up all the new takes, fit them to the instrumental, do all the eq/comp bullshit, and then arrange all the takes. For usseewa I just realized I've been spelling it wrong, I'm thinking everyone will sing together for each chorus, and someone will get to solo prechorus 2. Those are the only ideas I have so far, so if you have suggestions, let me know.
For migoboat, I think there'll be 3 versions: one with all the singing submissions + instrumental, one with everyone singing + everyone who submitted an instrumental take, and one with only instruments submitted which I might try to add to as well, if I can figure something out.
I'll do my best to post regular updates, maybe once a day or every other day. I think it'll take about a week maybe 2 because I have exams coming up soon. I could probably do it all in like 2 days but I'm still recovering from the all nighter I pulled last week. Again, suggestions and references are welcome. You can even email me suggestions if you want.
Pic related is the chain I'm using to clean everyone's takes up, if anyone's curious. I think it's a pretty fast workflow, I really only have to adjust the eq for most takes and occasionally use soothe if I'm taking too long on the eq. Hipass between 70-120, some dynamic eq for resonances in the mids and upper mids, static eq for room tone (when there's reverb). I found that a low pass or low shelf around 18k really helps get rid of that digital tone if it's there, but I didn't do that to all of them. Also, somewhat related blogpost: I just ordered new headphones and if they get here in time I'll be able to use them, but they're shipping from Latvia or something so it's not likely.
I'm sure the drawanons are lurking. I'm not sure if there will be a video, so I'll just leave that to them, if that's okay. I don't know how to edit videos.
