/m/ is a nasal phoneme which "grow" more naturally on a waveform compared to the sharp jump you see on a plosive phoneme like a /p/; this is due to the air naturally continuing to flow through your vocal system as you make a nasal but it naturally gets blocked altogether during a plosive which causes it, and the sound that goes with it, to be released in more of a small "burst"
