Personally I'm not really a fan of having one official and definitive list of essential fics, you're really just making a list based on vague feelings about their popularity instead of actually evaluating their merits. I'd rather just have you make an honest list of best fics according to (you) and if someone disagrees with your choices, they can make an alternative list.
